Questions only one of you can answer
- Where do I turn off the water?
- Who do we call if the roof leaks?
- What's the alarm code?
- When is the car due for its check?
- Which insurance company are we with?
- Who should be told if you go into hospital?
- Where is the will?
- What does the cat eat?
Handover asks the questions one at a time, so nothing is left out. You write it down once, and then it's there.
Two kinds of people find Handover
You, who keep track of it all
You pay the bills, know the insurances and where the keys hang. Write it down at your own pace, so your partner or your children won't be left alone with it one day. You decide who sees what.
You, who have parents
Do you know where your parents keep their papers, or who their doctor is? Set up Handover with them on their phone. The app asks the questions, and you get to talk about it while life is ordinary.
"Where do I turn off the water?"
Ask the handbook in your own words. The answer comes from what you wrote yourselves, and it shows where it says so. It can also help you write the handbook, one question at a time.
- The household decides whether it may read the handbook.
- Codes and pictures are never sent.
- Photograph a letter from the insurance company or the bank, and it suggests where it belongs.

Codes in a sealed envelope
PINs, the alarm code and logins don't belong in plain text. In Handover they go in a sealed envelope.
- End-to-end encrypted: the codes are locked on the phone before they are sent, and only the phones you approve can unlock them.
- You decide who can open them: right away, after a waiting period, or never.
- Shared everyday codes, so the whole household has the Wi-Fi and the door code.
- A printed key for the drawer, so the envelope can be opened even if the phone is lost.

Lend the house or the car
Renting out the holiday home, or lending the car for a weekend? Make a guest page with exactly what they need.
- Guests need no app and no account: a link in a text message, or a sheet you can print.
- It closes by itself after the last day.
- The Wi-Fi code and the key-box code can come along, protected by an extra code.
